The Downtown Business Council (DBC) and Council for the Arts of Chambersburg will present the start of 2018’s First Friday events on Friday May 4th from 5-8pm. Just as “Star Wars” fans around the world celebrate “May the Fourth”, Chambersburg’s May 4th First Friday events will feature a Star Wars theme as well, sponsored by Noelker & Hull. First Friday events will be centered on the Courthouse Plaza, with a sound track of Star Wars music presented by DJ Rick Summers. Events for all ages will include a Star Wars word scramble, a Death Star corn hole game, rock painting and a community Lego Build. There will be a costume contest at 7 pm with prizes for best adult’s and best kid’s costume.
Also coming to Main Street for First Friday is Nerdvana Outpost, which will feature life-size sci-fi environments including Stargate, Millenium Falcon and a Harry Potter castle. Opening soon at 47D North Main Street, Nerdvana will have a Bounce House and kids games in their parking lot for the evening.
A Star Wars trivia contest will lead participants to various participating Main Street businesses: Brussels Cafe, The Gift Enclosure, C&C Coffee, Boost Mobile/ Central PA Wireless, Here’s Looking at You, The Foundry, The Garage Studios, Ludwig’s Jewelers, Gartenberg Jewelry, Toy Box Gifts and Wonder, Olympia Candy Kitchen, Main Street Deli and Kristtany Tea & Gifts.
DBC will have an entry box on the Plaza for the First Friday Prize Package, with contributions from downtown businesses including the new Kristtany Tea & Gifts tea room at 177 South Main Street. Other Prize Package participants include Brussels Cafe, The Gift Enclosure, C&C Coffee, Boost Mobile/ Central PA Wireless, Here’s Looking at You, Franklin County Visitors Bureau, The Foundry, The Garage Studios, Merle Norman Cosmetics, Ludwig’s Jewelers, Gartenberg Jewelry, Gardens by Grace, Toy Box Gifts and Wonder, Olympia Candy Kitchen, Main Street Deli, Northwood Books, Tuscarora Mountain Winery and F&M Trust.
