Are you looking for an evening of fun this summer? Susan Shaffer is offering art classes at the Joyful Arts Studio in Greencastle. Shaffer, owner of the establishment, is offering classes on how to paint art in different techniques.
Do you like the painting pictured above? This an example of the “Creating your way to Joy!” painting class. Shaffer’s hope is that women will come, let go of control, and follow their own ‘gut instinct’! Come have a fun and relaxing evening. Participants will have a great time, slashing, and sloshing around in paint with brushes, plastic gift cards, fingers, even throw salt and spray water on our canvas! This is scheduled for July 15.
Shaffer is still booking private painting parties, at the studio or at a personal location. She is also doing fundraisers to help her community.
All classes are open to Beginners, no experience necessary, and ages 14 and up. You are welcome to bring your favorite beverage to class. All supplies, paints, brushes, step by step written instructions and photos will be provided. Drawing will already be on your canvas!

Batik Silk Scarf

Class Tuition and supplies: $40
Join Susan for a quick lesson on painting a Batik silk scarf. You won’t believe how easy it can be! You choose your color scheme and design. All supplies will be provided, including 100% silk scarf, fabric dyes, and instruction. Class size is limited so register soon!
You will need to bring paper towels, freezer wrap and Parafin wax (what you buy at the grocery store).

July 7, 14, 21 and 28, 1-4 or 6-9 pm

August 4, 11, 18 and 25,
1-4 or 6-9 pm Cost: $100
This class is designed for students with a desire to explore their creativity. You need no previous experience or talent to join this class. Students choose which media they wish to work in, whether it is pencil drawing, or painting in watercolor, acrylic or oils. Every student will work on their individual paintings and receive one-on-one guidance. This class is open to all levels, even if you have never held a brush.
Creating Your Way to JOY!
July 15, 6:30-9:30 pm
Cost: $50
Join Susan for a fun evening all about letting go, relaxing, laughing, collaborating, and comradery with other women. Participants will slosh around in the paint with brushes, fingers, credit cards, spray water, salt, rubbing alcohol and who knows what else might be used!
Everyone will create their own unique “Perfect” painting. This fun painting style will force you to go with your first gut instinct, no planning! You will be guided on painting techniques to create your non-objective painting. It will have a blast, there are no rules! All supplies included!
