The month of November starts with National Calzone Day on November 1 and the Franklin County Visitors Bureau is inviting guests to taste the delicious Italian treat made with delicious local ingredients!
Calzones, a delicious Italian food, are oven-baked and folded pizzas that are made of dough and often filled with mozzarella, ricotta, and Parmesan cheese as well as meats such as sausage and pepperoni. A common Italian dish, many local eateries make this delicious product.
Franklin County is a top milk-producing county, with 440 dairy farms of around 42,700 milk cows producing 850 million pounds of milk. One such farm, Trickling Springs Creamery, prides itself on happy cows being raised naturally to produce organic milk, yogurt, butter, cheese and ice cream. The Whispering Brook Cheese Haus continues to the decades-old tradition of cheese making and produces an assortment of delicious cheese including smoked cheddar, goat’s milk, gouda, Italian seasoned, longhorn, Havarti, dill and bacon and sharp cheddar just to name a few.

Pat & Carla’s Italian Eatery, a popular Italian restaurant, has expanded to three locations in Chambersburg to serve the needs of the locals and visitors alike. For 25 years, the eatery has been making delicious treats for delivery and carry out and also offers catering for events.
