Cow Tree in memory of Ralph & Nancy Wallech of Leitersburg, MD. Ralph was a long time milk truck driver and they owned a pet Jersey steer named “Baby” who lived in their backyard for 12 years. They both loved all things cow and farm related. The ornaments on this tree are part of a huge collection of bovine related items they owned. Many of their possessions were donated to the Carroll County (MD) Farm Museum and several other farm related charities. A small box of fragile glass cows which can not be displayed during the event will be included with the tree.

The TWEP tree is decorated with ornaments created by children who attended the annual Nature Crafts event held on the first Sunday of December at the Charles Brightbill Environmental Center. The Tuscarora Wildlife Education Project (TWEP) is a 501 C3 nonprofit organization. This group oversees the operation of the Charles Brightbill Environmental Center located north of Mercersburg on the campus of the James Buchanan High School campus. This facility houses a large collection of animal specimens displayed in a wide variety of natural habitats. TWEP presents programs for school age children, as well as adult groups throughout the week and hosts monthly Open House events on the first weekend of each month (October – May).
