Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Bureau is pairing up with Benchfield Farms to bring downtown horse and wagon rides to Chambersburg on Saturday, September 30. Rides begin at 8:15 AM and load in front of F&M Trust, 20 South Main Street. The last ride boards at 11:30 AM. Rides are 30 minutes, guided, and highlight some local points of interest as well as some interesting local stories. Each participant receives a set of postcards to remember the tour, which includes:
- Founding of Chambersburg
- Memorial Fountain & Square
- Franklin County Courthouses
- Burning & Rebirth of Chambersburg
- John Brown in Chambersburg
- Life in Cumberland Valley
Riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Babies and children up to and including age four ride free with an accompanying adult. Wagon has a surrey top. On Saturday, September 1, seven ride times are available and advance tickets for ten adult seats are being sold. There may be space available day-of the wagon rides. The public is welcome to stop by the boarding area to see if there is capacity for additional riders.
Pair up a morning wagon ride with a trip to the North Square Farmers Market, held from 8 AM to Noon in Founding Family Park.
Relax and enjoy a fall ride through downtown Chambersburg.
Another series of rides will be offered at the October First Friday, 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
