StoryWalk® Sunday | Buttonwood Nature Center, Waynesboro
Sunday August 11th, 2024 * 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
The story posted on the StoryWalk® trail at Pine Hill Park changes regularly, and a special story event accompanies each one on the second Sunday of select months.
The book for August is “My Busy Green Garden” by Terry Pierce, with rich illustrations by Carol Schwartz.
Kids will join a guided walk along the story trail as they read the book, then make a special craft project to take home.
This lovely book is a lyrical tribute to the bugs, bees, and birds that make the garden such a busy place.
With each page more garden visitors appear, while a “surprise, in clever disguise” changes unnoticed until, on the last page, a butterfly emerges and flies away across the garden’s well-tended borders.
During the story, a chipmunk “hides” on every page to engage young readers.
“We are happy to present this lively portrayal of backyard nature, which is also a gentle reminder of the rewards of paying attention to nature,” said Pam Rowland, Buttonwood’s director of education.
All families are welcome, but activities are geared for preschool and elementary age kids.
Stay tuned for future StoryWalk® Sundays!
The event is FREE, but pre-registration is required by August 9.
Limited to 20 children.
