Lunch & Learn: Town Canes of Chambersburg & Waynesboro | 11/30 Visitors Center, Chambersburg
Tuesday October 8th, 2024 * 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Franklin County Visitors Bureau is pleased to host Pam Anderson for a special Lunch & Learn: Town Canes of Chambersburg and Waynesboro at the Franklin County Visitors Bureau.
This is a FREE event!
Anderson is a Certified Genealogist, researcher, lecturer, and perpetual student of history.
She recently delved into the tradition of town canes, which are given to the “oldest resident.”
Discover where and how the tradition started, the tradition’s connections locally, and how recipients were selected.
In addition to sharing the national and local history of the Town Cane, Anderson will engage the audience to aid in her search for other connections to the Town Cane.
Ultimately, Anderson is seeking the whereabouts of Franklin County’s town cane.
Lunch is lasagna and salad with cold beverages.
A mixed dessert selection will follow lunch, and the event will end with a group game to showcase well-known individuals, who carried or used canes as well as other recognizable canes in music, history, and pop culture.
