Chair Caning Workshop 2016 (3-part)

Visitors Center, Renfrew Park, 1010 East Main Street, Waynesboro, PA

Underwriting support provided in part by Marge Kiersz; Lucinda D. Potter, CPA; and Smith, Elliott, Kearns & Company

Local craftsman, Merri Tabor, will guide participants in the caning of a beautiful finished stool—or participants may bring an item from home for caning. Merri has been providing caning and rushing services in her husband’s furniture restoration shop (Golden Eagle Cabinet Shop) for more than 35 years. Pre-registration required. Ages 15 and up. Limit 10. Basic Workshop Fee: $25 for members of Renfrew Institute, $30/non-member.

Participants may bring their own furniture piece to cane instead of buying the stool, so materials fees will vary per participant: $65 Stool: high quality, hand-crafted and finished except for cane seat; $25 Caning kit: includes all tools needed, cane and booklet; $17 Cane only, for those with their own tools.

We hope these options will be helpful and encourage all levels of participation. Merri will work with each participant individually as well as with the whole group for basic instruction. To register call 717-762-0373 or email info@renfrewinstitute.org.
