Allison-Antrim Museum, 365 South Ridge Avenue, Greencastle, Pennsylvania 17225 will hold its first 2025 monthly speaker meeting on Thursday, January 9, 2024, in the German Bank Barn beginning at 7 p.m. The facility is wheelchair accessible.
Brad Gottfried, Fayetteville, will be the speaker. The nation held its breath for 11 days after the Battle of Gettysburg. Would Meade be able to destroy Lee’s beaten army or would the Confederates escape to Virginia to fight another day? This exciting presentation follows the activities and exploits of each army as they made their way to the Potomac River after the battle. The presentation will also consider whether Meade was too slow, whether Lee continued collecting supplies and, was Lincoln justified in his frustration with Meade.
Brad Gottfried was president of two colleges and an educator for over 40 years. He retired in 2017. Gottfried has written 19 books on the Civil War, four of them in collaboration with his wife Linda, who is a sculptor. Brad is also a Gettysburg Licensed Town Guide and an Antietam Licensed Battlefield Guide.
