In recognition of World Kindness Day (November 13) we have several special activities in November. We will have Kindness Challenge Cards with a suggestion of something nice to do that helps others. Participants will be entered in a raffle for a $25 Amazon Gift card and a Be Kind T-shirt. Come to the library for details.
Thursday November 9, from 2 – 4:30 pm: Second Thursday Movie – “The Fabelmans”. Loosely based on Spielberg’s childhood growing up in post-World War II era, a young man named Sammy Fabelman discovers a shattering family secret, and explores how the power of movies helps us to see the truth about each other and ourselves. Rated PG-13. Stars Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Gabriel Labell and Judd Hirsch. Come see this truly wonderful film. You will love how Spielberg tells the story. Light refreshments offered
Thursday, November 16, from 6:30 – 7:30 pm: Avoid a Trip to the Emergency Room.
Approximately 35,000 young children are brought to the emergency room each year because they got into medicines that were left within reach. To prevent this from happening at your home, learn more about safe medication storage, disposal, and how to respond to a potential opioid overdose. Everyone attending will have the opportunity to receive a medication lock box, medication disposal/devices and Narcan – free of charge. Katie Becker, MSW, Prevention Specialist with Franklin/Fulton Drug and Alcohol, will present.
Saturday, November 18, from 9 am – 3 pm: Winter Holiday Sale. Find the perfect and unique gift for family and friends. Many popular businesses, such as Pampered Chef, Thirty-One Gifts, and Paper Pie Books, as well as handcrafted offerings will be present. Chameleon 1360 Grill Food Truck will be selling food during the entire event.
Raffle tickets for Gift Cards to several local businesses and a Christmas Throw will be sold at the library starting November 1. 1 ticket for $1 or 6 tickets for $5. Winners will be drawn during the Winter Holiday Sale. Winners do not need to be present.

Mondays, November 27, December 4, 11, and 18, from 10 am – noon: Make Your Own (Blank) Book. Learn bookmaking skills to make your own blank book. Participants must attend all four sessions. The book is a very nice quality and you will design your own cover. There is a materials fee of $23.00, payable at the first session. You must preregister, and space is limited to ten participants. Tuesday, November 28, from 6 – 7:45 pm: Terrific Tuesday Theater – “Elemental”. The film is set in Element City, where fire, water, land, and air residents live together. The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about their world. This delightful movie stars Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie, and Ronnie Del Carmen. It’s a great family film! Rated PG. Light refreshments offered.
Thursday, November 30, from 2 – 3:30 pm: Holiday Card Making. Join us for our make-and-take program. You will make a holiday card and a gift tag. Create beautiful keepsakes for the holidays. Several door prizes will be given during the program. All supplies are provided. Class size is limited. Please register at the library by Wednesday, November 22. Free and open to the public. Program instructed by Jody Brechbill, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.
Thursday, December 14, from 2 – 4 pm: Second Thursday Movie Afternoon – “Barbie”. Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans. This film is a delight! It’s a perfect mix of comedy, fantasy, and romance. Stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and Will Ferrell. Rated PG-13. Light refreshments offered.

Tuesdays, November 7, and December 5, from 1 – 3 pm: Yarn Adventures. Come join us on the first Tuesday of each month and work on your latest creation – crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, embroidery, etc. All are welcome! Attendees can meet other enthusiasts in the area and learn from one another. This is a great place to share ideas and learn new stitching skills! Open to pre-teens, teens & adults.
Monday, November 13, from 1 – 3 pm (no program in December): Bracelets for Boxes. Create beautiful beaded bracelets for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. All supplies are provided and no experience is needed. Enjoy the fellowship of others as you make bracelets.
Tuesdays, November 14, and December 12, from 2 – 3:30 pm: Adult Book Club. Join us for Book Club meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. It is a place to talk, read, and have fun sharing reading experiences. Upcoming selections include: November – Tom Lake by Ann Patchett; December – My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman; and January – Fairy Tale by Stephen King.
Mondays, November 20, and December 18, from 1 – 3 pm: Pickin’ Party at the Library. Bring an instrument and join the fun or just come to hear the bluegrass, old-time, Celtic, Cajun, and fiddle tunes. All skill levels are welcome. Light refreshments are offered.
Tuesdays, November 21, and December 19, at 12:30 pm: Cookbook Club. Cookbook club meets on the third Tuesday of each month. Each month will have a special theme. Prepare a dish of your choice and bring it, along with your recipe, to share with friends! Beverages, plates, and cutlery are supplied. All are welcome! November’s theme is Recipes with Five Ingredients or Less. December’s theme – Cookie Exchange. Please RSVP by calling or signing up at the library.
Thursday, November 30, from 6 – 8 pm (no program in December): Quill and Ink Society. Gather with fellow writers for an opportunity to network, share, and learn from one another. Writers of all backgrounds are welcome to attend – published, unpublished, poetry, fiction, or non-fiction. Come connect with other like-minded hive members as we talk all things writing! Laura Zimmerman will lead the discussion. She published her first book in 2019 and currently has 3 books in print with 2 more books to be released in 2023.
