Have fun creating a raku leaf bowl on April 7th or 11th from 7-9 pm at our Mont Alto Studio, located on the Penn State Mont Alto campus in the General Studies Building, Room 008. See your piece being fired during Renfrew’s Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 30 from 11:00-4:00.
Wow – what a unique idea! Our instructor, Carolyn Baker, will guide you step by step as you design your creation.
The “raku” firing process is where pottery is removed from the kiln when it’s bright red and subjected to post firing reduction (or smoking) by placing the piece into containers filled with combustible materials – such as leaves, newspaper, or sawdust. The results are always unpredictable and often produce intense coppery colorations.
Each session is limited to 10 adults and the price is $30.00, which includes instruction, all materials, glazes and firings.
